Birth preferences or plans can issue no guarantees of what will happen during your labor but it can be a great way of organizing your thoughts about your upcoming birth and figuring out what’s important to you. It can be comforting to work with a birth professional to help you get all of the information you need to prepare for normal birth. It can be helpful for you to decide how you might want to plan for different situations.

If you are planning a normal birth many routine practices are not based on best practice and can make an undisturbed birth difficult. I offer in-home private 2-3 hour birth plan consultations by request.

Birth Plan Consultation Includes Information Regarding:

  • What are the routine childbirth practices here in Oklahoma?

  • How do I increase my chances of having the birth I want?

  • What can I do to reduce my chances of having a caesarean section?

  • What is a gentle caesarean?

  • Deciding if an epidural is the right choice for you

  • Comfort measures for natural birth

  • Positions for medicated birth

  • What your hospital experience may look like

  • Discuss informed consent + the risks and benefits of birth choices

  • Identify what’s most important to you about your birth

  • Questions to ask your careprovider

  • Information on VBAC and local hospital caesarean statistics
